Aravindan had a peak of Magical Realism: Sumitra Peries

The 12th Aravindan Memorial Lecture conducted as a part of the 19th IFFK was delivered by Sumitra Peries, the renowned Srilankan film maker. She admired the legendary filmmaker Aravindan by saying that he had a peak of magical realism in his way of storytelling. She extended her empathy on the effort Aravindan made to put Magical Realism in his film 'Kummatti' without using any new digitized technology.
“The simplicity and the humble presentation of the film 'Kummatti' made it outstanding. In the South Asian Film Festival held at Japan, 'Kummatti' was well-received by the Japanese audience and Aravindan also got a chance to meet the famous director Akira Kurosawa. No magician can bring back Aravindan, but his magical movies can make him alive for a hundred years more.” added Peries. As a tribute to Aravindan, his friends Shaji N Karun and Gopalakrishnan reeled the documentary 'Small World, Grand Man' in the function.
