IFFK offered veritable treat on the fourth day

The fourth day of IFFK 19th edition passed smoothly, by giving the delegates a veritable treat. 49 films, under the categories, the Retrospective, Country Focus, Indian Cinema Now, World Cinema, Malayalam Cinema Today and international Competition, were screened today (15/12/14). Minister for Cinema Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Minister for Health V S Sivakumar were also present to watch films along with the delegates.
The Chinese film The continent directed by Han Han, the Turkish film Sivas directed by Kaan Mujdeci, the Bengali film The Ant Story directed by Mostofa Sarwar were well received. Leviathan, directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev, screened in Nishagandhi Open Theatre was another film which was well praised. The films December 1, Oonga, Oblivion Season, Zahir, They are the Dogs, A Girl at My Door, The Narrow Frame of Midnight,  Summer,Kyoto and Unto the dusk were screened under International Competition. All the theatres were tightly packed. 
The Iranian director Abbas Rafei (Oblivion Season) was the main star in the press conference conducted in connection with IFFK. He poignantly described the pathetic condition of the Iranian women. The directors Renjith(Njan) and Sajin Baabu(Unto the dusk) also attended the press conference. Another attraction of the festival was its interactive sessions; Meet the Director and In Conversation. The Mexican Director Jack Zagha Kababie shared the experiences of Mexican Film Industry at Meet the Director Programme. Sudhish Kamath and Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, co-directors of X, Iranian Director Abbas Rafei,  Hicham Lasri, director of They are the Dogs, Geetanjali Kulkarni, the main actress in the film Court also attended the session. Noted Film Critic Saibal Chatterjee was the moderator. 
Italian Film Maker Marco Belloccio answered the queries of audience in the session, ‘In Conversation’. His experiences in film making and his views on various subjects that extends from the prevailing Italian beliefs to politics were discussed. Noted Film Scholar Suresh Chabria moderated the session.
