James Bond Formula ruined Indian cinema: Ananth Narayan Mahadevan

The James Bond formula destroyed Indian cinema said Ananth Narayan Mahadevan at the press meet conducted in connection with 19th IFFK. In my thirty year span with the industry, I have seen the changes and transformations in the film and television sectors. The film industry is a slippery ground. If you make a good movie which is a box office failure, you will survive and if you make a bad movie, which is a box office failure, you will surely get wiped out, he added.
IFFK is amazing. The crowd responds really well, these magnanimous spectators will encourage filmmakers like me to move on with our own style of movie making and bring out quality movies. Let the art make money instead of making money out of art. Mass is rejecting the formula films and this is a good sign. If people find time to get in to some intellectual exercise then we can give them what they want, said Ananth.
Parallel film makers should utilize the opportunities in new media, said Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, director of the film The Ant Story. Online distribution will be the future in next five years. More than that online medium is tax free and the reach it guarantees is much higher. It is really a blessing for parallel film makers, he added.
